The Neolithic & Bronze Ages and the Greeks
Hands on History are currently working on producing presentations on the earliest parts of our history, following requests from schools that are studying The Bronze Age and The Greeks. We have so far made a whole series of flint tools and weapons such as bows, spears, arrows, axes and knives. We are also working with animal hides, sinew, horn, bone, antler and tree resins to make all the other tools that would have been used for living in the Neolithic period. For The Bronze Age we have made bronze swords, axes, spears and body armour. We are now working on producing hardened leather armour and have just finished our first Greek Hoplite shield. For the later Greek period when iron weapons and armour were being used we have made iron swords, spearheads and body armour. We are putting together the tools and equipment that Greek or other Bronze Age soldiers would have used to live whilst on campaign.
