Looking for educational resources for your History lessons? Or maybe you’re organising an event in Sussex, Surrey or Kent and would love to entertain visitors with fun historical activities? Hands on History is here to bring any time period to life from The Stone Age to World War Two!
For schools, you’ll find that we offer interactive historical workshops and topic boxes full of educational resources. For events or historical venues, we provide bespoke artefacts and have-a-go activities. We can also supply items for TV and Film projects (we’ve done this for the likes of the BBC and others!).
Topic Boxes for Schools
Hands on History Topic Boxes have been designed with a focus on fun and exploration. Your school can hire one of our History Topic Boxes which comes packed with educational resources, including quality artefacts and comprehensive lesson support material. Choose your topic from The Stone Age through to WW2 for KS1 and KS2. Our topic boxes can be supplied to any school in the South East of England, including East Sussex, West Sussex, Kent and Surrey.
History School Workshops
Our history school workshops are really ‘hands on’, with demonstrations, activities and educational resources for the whole day for schools with one class per year group up to four classes per year group. From The Stone Age to WW2 we can bring history to life for students in KS1, KS2 and beyond with our workshops. We can travel to schools in East Sussex, West Sussex, Surrey and Kent.
Handmade by Hands on History
We have our own workshops where we make artefacts from wood, leather, cloth, flint and a range of metals. We can make bespoke items to your design, or you can browse through our online shop to see our unique range of handmade artefacts. We have produced Resource Boxes for many museums, as well as individual replicas of museum artefacts.

Historical Venues and Events
Thrill your visitors with our life-like historic experiences and ‘have-a-go’ activities for any period from The Stone Age through to WW2. We can visit events in Sussex, Surrey or Kent.
We’ll bring along our large range of arms, armour and helmets for your visitors of all ages to try on and handle. Or book one of our very realistic displays. Such as our ‘Medieval Medicine and Surgery’ where we ‘amputate’ the leg of one of your visitors. Or the WW1/2 Shooting Range!
TV & Film Services
You can hire out props for your production, or we can make bespoke items. We have a range of historically accurate replicas and original items from costumes to armour – from The Stone Age to WW2. We can also offer our expertise to make sure your production is historically correct.
Corporate Events
Give staff, friends or family an experience from the past that they will never forget with historical based team building activities, scripted presentations and full day historical events. We can travel across East Sussex, West Sussex, Surrey and Kent.
